Trainee Profile

Solicitor
Walker Morris has been a great choice for my training contract. I’m delighted with the experience so far and feel as if this will prove to be a great foundation for my career.
Leeds great place to work
Choosing Walker Morris was the right decision for me. Leeds is one of the best places to pursue a legal career in the UK. Being outside London does not compromise the quality of work, as London based clients are increasingly realising that work can be done just as well in Leeds and often for less. So I have the benefit of top quality work, of working in a close knit legal community, without having to compromise on social and living standards.
Positive environment
I have been surprised by the amount of responsibility I have been given. Work is very well supervised which means trainees get to do so much more than just ‘trainee tasks’. This was quite unexpected and helps create an extremely positive working environment.
Meeting clients
From the very start I have worked with some very prestigious clients. I am given the responsibility to contact and deal with them myself, which has helped build my confidence and develop my skills.
Secondment
I have been particularly lucky as I have been working in-house with a major client, Drax, the power station that provides 7% of the UK’s electricity needs. This client exposure is second-to-none, enabling me to deal with key clients on a daily basis and taking significant responsibility.
6 seats not 4
Walker Morris is also a great choice because of our training. We get to work in 6 seats rather than 4 which broadens the learning experience and enables the trainees to work on aspects of the law they maybe thought were not for them.
